It is recommended by the National Caravan Council and under the Approved Workshop Scheme, that caravans or motorhomes over three years old have an electrical Periodic Inspection Report (PIR).
What is a periodic inspection?
A Periodic Inspection is an inspection as to the condition of an existing electrical installation. A periodic inspection from Caravanalia will:
-
reveal if any of your electrical circuits or equipment that may be overloaded
-
find any potential electric shock risks and fire hazards in your electrical installation
-
identify any defective DIY electrical work
-
highlight any lack of earthing or bonding.
-
Test RCD performance
-
Insulation resistance of wiring.
Why is a periodic inspection needed?
Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and age and due to movement of a caravan or motorhome, it is therefore recommended that a periodic inspection and testing is carried out at least every 3 years to ensure your caravan or motorhomes electrics are in top condition.
